Introduction
Thomas Dorr writes to Dutee Pearce to inform him of a gathering in Market Square in Providence which featured over 3,000 Suffrage supporters. Dorr witnessed the large assemblage from the office of the pro-suffrage New Age newspaper. The previous evening Dorr spoke at the Town House in Providence, answering a challenge to the Suffrage Party’s position from his old legal mentor John Whipple. Towards the end of the letter, Dorr references an important pamphlet written in support of the People’s Constitution. This document can be found on the Dorr Rebellion Project website. Dorr discusses preparation for the upcoming elections under the People’s Constitution.
